Description
The 6'6'' Varian turns as his ears perk and tune to the sound of something in the distance. Obviously his ears were far more sensitive then that of a normal human, and odds were his smell was too. He looked much like any anthro fox with only a few differences. Fluffy, tangerine-orange fur draped his entire body with the exception of his chest where even fluffier white fur adorned. Clothing wise, we wore what looked like a skin-tight combat outfit. The material looked hard to tear and resistant of extreme conditions. There were two belts around his waist, both holding multiple pouches and other devices. A holter strapped under his left arm housed a handgun of unique design. A bandolier crossed diagnoly over him from left shoulder to right under-arm, loaded with more gadgets and gizmos. Two odd devices were attached to the wrists of the suit with the barest hint of a blade extruding from the fronts. One deep blue colored eye was visible, but a strapless eyepatch rested over his left eye. Under it, the eye was silver and had extensive visual damage.
Biography
John's story isn't the happiest. He was born on the planet Varia, a peaceful place that has never know pain or torment- or even conflict in general- under the name 'Finn'. Everything there was peaceful due to the Varians lacking the qualities that often cause conflict, such as greed and hate. It was a utopia. There wasn't any technology, not even simple weapons like bows or swords. The Varians all lived happily there. They knew no hate, no fear, no sorrow... only life. Even when someone died of illness, old age, or maybe even an accident, they understood that death was part of life, and there were never any tears. Finn had an older sister named Saya, a twin brother named Miyou, loving parents, and a whole easel of friends. He had a fond childhood for the most part, always finding fun. Weather it was some kind of game, a dance, racing, tree-hopping, or swimming, Varian life was never dull. However, at the age of 3(which was actually only half a Varian year due to the planet's slow rotation), a terrible thing happened. An unknown group came down from the skies, one that made a living by stealing and killing. The raiders killed many Varians, searching for one thing; the precious metal that was plentiful all over Varia. They pillaged the area around Finn's beloved Village. To the Varians, the metal was good for making jewelry, and had really no special worth. To the invaders, however, it was one of the strongest metals ever seen, great for selling or battleship building. They began collecting what they could, quickly filling an entire ship full of it. The Varians, not having technology above wooden huts and simple tools, couldn't defend against the invaders and their high-tech weaponry. Before they could get anymore, another ship crash-landed and on the planet and inside it, rode a mysterious young girl. She began to help the Varians fight back and eventually the hostile invaders were defeated. However, the raider ship that had collected the metal escaped, and on it were a few prisoners. The prisoners were Finn, his older sister Saya, his twin brother Miyou, his best friend Kio, and a few other friends. They spent the next four years as slaves, working their little bodies almost to death for their oppressive new masters, until one day, another ship appeared. This new ship and the slavers began fighting and the newcomer took the upper hand. They boarded the slavers and happened across the Varian children. Out of the kindness of their hearts, they began to rescue them, but things went terribly wrong. The ship began to self-destruct! While the ship was destroying itself, the roof collapsed onto Saya, trapping her. A few sparks lit the debris aflame, and poor, helpless Saya was engulfed in the inferno. Finn watched her burn to death, powerless to save her. The crew rushed to rescue the children, but only Finn made it onto the other ship. The slaver ship self destructed, killing everyone on board. The event gave poor Finn an extreme case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He was now the only Varian outside of Varia, and he had no clue how to return home. The last thing he remembered after seeing the slaver ship explode was blacking out. The next 2 years of his life were a complete blank, and for some odd reason all memory of his twin brother had been wiped clean, as if he never existed. The screams and cries for help of his older sister still haunt him, as does the memory of the explosion. In the hotel room, Finn found a suitcase that contained a large block of Jennium, a universal passport, some money, and a note. The note was written in a strange language he didn't know. He set out, and soon found a teacher that could teach him Japanese and English. Leaning was a pain, seeing as how there was no literal translation from his native language. After which, he adopted the name 'Johnathan J. Crevan'. He set off and got an education. He blew through school at record speed, and enrolled in a military school that orbited Earth. His reasoning was that in the military, he could make a difference and do some good. He came out at the top of all his classes, including tactics, aviation, engineering, and zero-gravity combat. He went into the Earth Military as pilot. He was in an elite squad of 5. The squad was mainly a special task group that flew strikes against small, strategic targets. The group was unmatched in combat by anything the enemies could throw at them. It became obvious who the best pilot was. Johnathan's lethal skills, impossible speed, and unparalleled precision (in addition to the deep, majestic blue colored fighter he always flew into battle with) earned him the nickname 'The Blue phantom Reaper' from which he got his callsign, 'Phantom'. John ended up rivaling the team's other ace, Wasp, and unfortunately, the other ace didn't take too kindly to being outdone. One fateful mission, the squad suffered heavy losses. Two of the pilots were killed instantly in an ambush, and after a brutal dogfight, John suffered his first fatal wound. He'd taken heavy hits before, but nothing like this. Bullets ripped through the fighter from behind, tearing through John on their way out the canopy. They damaged the hydraulics, and a pipe shot forward, impaling the helpless Varian pilot. In an attempt to save him, the team captain flew in to take down his attacker and was caught in a mysterious gravity well that tore his fighter in half. Wasp was the only one that remained. In a fit of jealousy, Wasp fled the battle zone at top speed, leaving John with a single message; "A fitting end... I'll be sure everyone knows about your death, and how you dragged us all to oblivion after I fought so hard to save you." With a menacing laugh, Wasp was gone. Due to the pipe impaling him to the pilot seat and the bullet holes all over his body, John was losing blood at an alarming rate. He could barely remain conscious. With the breaches in his fighter's canopy and the holes in his suit, his oxygen supply was fading fast. He didn't have much control over his left arm after a bullet tore a few muscles in his shoulder, but what he did have was will power. It took all the strength he could muster, but he was able to maneuver his fighter around to destroy the last hostile. With all the weapons on his craft offline, he had but one option. His pistol. He drew it and with a few lucky shots, he silenced his enemy. He attempted the right his fighter before it smacked into the ground of a nearby planet. He couldn't stay awake for the whole ride. Luckily the damage wasn't all fatal. His left eye sustained flash damage, disabling his ability to see in color or very clearly from that eye. His left arm was snapped in two places and had to be put in a cast. The bullets tore many major muscles and caused massive internal damage to many organs, but lucky for him they would all heal to normal functionality. His savior was a man named Unian. Unian had saved him from the crash and patched him (AND his ship) up and got them to full functionality. John and Unian decided to travel together, shortly after John made the decision to leave the military behind. What will is life hold for him in the future? Only time will tell.
